Dr Verhoef has undergone subspecialist training in spinal surgery, including two fellowships under both orthopaedic and neurosurgical mentorship. This dual perspective has contributed to a well-rounded and considered approach to the management of spinal conditions.
He has a strong interest in the full spectrum of spinal care, with particular emphasis on conservative management, interventional pain procedures, and advanced surgical techniques where appropriate. His approach is patient-centred and collaborative, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that treatment plans are carefully tailored to each individual.
Dr Verhoef remains actively engaged in ongoing professional development and academic activity and stays abreast of the latest international trends and technologies through training and collaboration with centres in Europe, the United States, and Asia, allowing him to incorporate current techniques and best practices into his clinical work. He maintains active professional affiliations with several esteemed local and international spinal surgery societies, including the South African Spine Society, the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, and AO Spine.
